Do you want to play Divinity: Original Sin or Baldur's Gate 3 with me?

Note: I didn't receive any response, and subsequently decided to embark on a different quest: digital minimalism. I will not be gaming until after March 31, 2026. If you come across this post in the meantime, and are interested in starting a campaign later, I still welcome the chance to make a friend!

Aye, well met, adventurer! I enjoy Dungeons & Dragons and fantasy RPGs in general. The escapism and socializing component are among my favourite forms of leisure.

But for at least the first half of 2026, I'm focused on school and can't commit to playing in person. At the same time, single-player video games feel lacking: these days when I seek alone time, I prefer exploring and listening to music.

It occurred to me 15 minutes ago that I could just make this ask, to see if anyone is interested in starting a new campaign in either Divinity: Original Sin (Enhanced Edition) or Baldur's Gate 3.

Here are some notes:

  1. I can commit to a weekly session of 2-3 hours. I reside in the Mountain timezone and can plan to be free on weeknights from 6pm to 9pm. Weekends are more flexible: I could block a session any time during the day.
  2. Preferably, you are at least in your mid-20s. No, I don't require age verification, but as mentioned I like the socializing aspect and this depends on having a level of maturity and life experience. I remember playing Halo 3 in high school talking about the angsty existential bits of adolescence (while providing excellent sniper coverage during capture the flag games). I wouldn't want to play with that version of me these days.
  3. No streaming, please. I'm just looking to make friends during my downtime. I don't want to treat this activity as a performance or a hustle.
  4. In terms of play style, I'm not your guy if you're looking for an optimized playthrough. I like to experiment, I like to explore, and I like to have some semblance of role-playing in my choices because I believe in consequences.
  5. Likewise for difficulty: I'm looking to play on the normal difficulty in these games. Real life is tough enough: let's indulge in some power fantasies when we can.
  6. I've yet to actually finish D:OS and BG3. I've started them in earnest, but haven't made it through the first act in either. Conversely, I've finished D:OS 2 so I know my way around these games mechanically.

How's this for an initiative roll?
