re: The BIC Pen Experiment: Part 1

OMG. Thank you for running the experiment on behalf of us with too many hobbies and stationery. I'm actually intrigued by the outcome because it's commentary on how often people buy equipment and tools that exceed their present needs.
By using the basic BIC pen, you're taking one of the most ubiquitous writing utensils in homes and offices and making a critique of the superfluous.
Possible conclusions based on results:
if using it yields you more-than-expected written pages, then bravo! You'd have written more than you otherwise would have without the spark of inspiration. Way to go, humble BIC pen.
if using it yields a short number of pages, then bravo! You used up what you once had, and to its full potential. Its purpose now fulfilled, you can let go and move to the next pen. If the whole point of this experiment is to reduce attachment to things, then that attachment should encompass the kind that comes from missing a thing. It's just a BIC pen, in the end.
Truly, it's a brilliant experiment. I'm staying tuned.
